Art Direction Art direction agency

A shoot is expensive to repeat. Art direction decides the look before the day, then holds it on set and in the edit, so you get what you approved rather than what happened.

For marketing teams planning a launch, a campaign or a content shoot, whether we produce it or your own production company does.

Good crew, expensive day, content that looks like anyone’s.

Many shoots go wrong long before the camera rolls. Nobody wrote down what the pictures should feel like, so the photographer guesses, the stylist guesses and the client decides on the day. The result is technically fine and says nothing about the brand. Then the vertical cuts for social are an afterthought, cropped from horizontal frames.

Brands selling in several markets have an extra test: casting, wardrobe and settings that feel right in one country can feel wrong in another. Art direction answers these questions on paper first, plans every format from the start, and keeps one person responsible for the look from brief to final file.

What brands bring us in for

  • Product and campaign launches
  • Seasonal content shoots
  • Brand photography libraries
  • TV and online ad shoots
  • Content for several markets at once

What you get

You get a concept and moodboards to approve, a shot list for every format, direction on casting, styling and sets, a director on the day and a review of the final edit.

  1. Creative Concept

One clear idea for the shoot or campaign, written in a few lines, with the reason it fits your brand and your audience.

  2. Moodboards & References

Moodboards for light, colour, composition, wardrobe and props, so everyone agrees what the result should look like before a camera is booked.

  3. Shot List & Storyboard

A shot list or storyboard for every format you need: website, social, print and paid ads, horizontal and vertical.

  4. Casting, Styling & Sets

Direction on talent, wardrobe, locations, props and set dressing, with the cultural details checked for the market you sell in.

  5. On-set Direction

An art director on the day, making the calls on framing, styling and light so the shoot stays on brief and on time.

  6. Edit & Retouch Review

Review of the edit, grade and retouching, so the final images and films still match the moodboard you approved.

Planning a shoot and unsure how it should look?

Tell us what you are launching, where the content will run and when. We reply with questions and a scoped quote.

How it works

  1. Step 1: Brief

What you are launching, where the content will run, who it must persuade and what your brand has looked like so far.

  2. Step 2: Concept

A short written idea and moodboards. You approve the look before anyone is booked.

  3. Step 3: Prepare

Shot list, casting, locations, wardrobe and props agreed with you and the production team.

  4. Step 4: Shoot and review

Direction on set, then a review of the edit and retouching against the approved look.

Questions

How much does art direction cost?

It depends on the scope: concept and moodboards only, or full preparation and days on set, plus the number of formats and markets. Send a short brief and we quote a fixed scope. Crew, studio and talent costs are listed separately.

What does an art director actually do?

Decides how the content should look and keeps it that way: the idea, the references, the shot list, the casting and styling calls, the framing on set and the review of the edit.

Can you art direct a shoot our own production company runs?

Yes. We work alongside your photographer or production house, giving them the moodboards and shot list and directing the look on the day.

Can you also produce the shoot?

Yes. Our product photography and video production services can handle the crew and the shoot, with art direction setting the look.

How do you handle content for different countries?

We plan casting, wardrobe, settings and language per market at the moodboard stage, and flag anything that may not suit a specific audience before it is shot.

Will we see the look before the shoot?

Yes. You approve the concept, moodboards and shot list in writing before anyone is booked. That approval is what the day is checked against.

How many revisions are included?

The proposal sets rounds for the concept and moodboards. Changing the look after preparation has started is new scope, which we flag immediately.

Who owns the concept and the final content?

Ownership of the approved concept and final files is written into the proposal. Talent and music usage rights are agreed separately and listed.

Can you set a look for all our future shoots?

Yes. We can turn the approved direction into a short photography and video guide, so future shoots by any team stay consistent.

Tell us about the shoot or campaign.

A short brief is enough: the product or place, the formats, the date and any references you like. We reply with questions and a fixed-scope quote.
