Facebook and Instagram ads in Pakistan: setup, creatives, language and measurement

Facebook and Instagram ads in Pakistan: account and pixel setup, creatives, Urdu or English copy and measuring real sales.

Published 4 min read

Facebook and Instagram are still where many Pakistani shops, brands and service businesses find customers. They are also where a lot of money gets wasted: boosted posts with no goal, ads sent to a page that does not load, results judged by likes. This guide covers how to set up, create, run and measure Meta ads in a way that connects spending to real sales.

We do not give budget figures or promise results. Costs and performance depend on your product, price, audience and competition, and they change.

Before you spend anything

Answer these on paper:

  1. What outcome do you want? Confirmed orders, WhatsApp enquiries, form leads, store visits or app installs. Choose one.
  2. What is a customer worth? If you do not know the margin on an order, you cannot tell whether an ad cost is acceptable.
  3. Where do people land? A product page, a landing page or a WhatsApp chat. It must load fast on a mobile connection.
  4. Who responds? A lead that waits a day is often gone. Assign someone.

Account setup

  • Business Portfolio and Ads Manager, owned by the business, with at least two trusted admins.
  • Facebook Page and Instagram account connected, complete and active. People check them after clicking.
  • Payment method that Meta supports for your account. Check this early.
  • Domain verification and Pixel. Install the Meta Pixel, and where available the Conversions API, on your website or store. Test purchase, add-to-cart and lead events.
  • Policy check. Read Meta’s advertising policies for your category before you build a campaign.

If you run a Shopify or other store, use its Meta integration and confirm the events actually arrive.

Campaign structure that stays simple

Start small:

  • One campaign for one goal, such as sales or leads.
  • One or two audiences, broad enough for the system to learn.
  • Three to five creatives testing different ideas, not tiny variations.

Too many campaigns and audiences spread your budget thin and make it impossible to learn anything.

Audiences

Begin with location, age range and language, and let Meta find the buyers inside that. Add narrower audiences and lookalikes once you have conversion data. Use retargeting for visitors, people who messaged you and video viewers. Choose the cities you can actually serve: a store that delivers in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad should not advertise to the whole country.

Creatives that work in Pakistan

On both platforms, your ad sits between family photos and entertainment. Creative quality does most of the work.

  • Vertical video (for Reels and Stories) and square or vertical images (for feeds).
  • The product in use in the first seconds, not a long logo animation.
  • One message per ad: benefit, offer or problem solved.
  • Real people and real settings, with clear light.
  • Price and delivery information where it helps, since many buyers ask first.
  • Captions on video for viewing without sound.
  • A clear call to action: order now, message us, see the collection.

Our motion graphics and product photography work provides assets built for these placements.

Urdu, Roman Urdu or English

The right language depends on audience and product.

  • English suits premium, B2B and fashion-forward brands in big cities.
  • Urdu script suits wide audiences, family products and local services, and shows respect for readers who prefer it.
  • Roman Urdu is how many people text, so it feels conversational. Use it deliberately and consistently.
  • Mixed is normal: English product names inside an Urdu sentence.

Test two versions, and have a native writer check the copy, especially for tone and spelling. Make sure the Urdu text renders properly in the image and on the landing page.

Landing page and checkout

Most poor results come after the click. Check:

  • Does the page match the ad’s promise?
  • Does it load quickly on a mobile connection?
  • Are the price, delivery cost and time clear?
  • Is the order form short?
  • Does checkout work on a cheap phone?
  • Is there a WhatsApp option for people who prefer to talk?

Running and testing

  • Let each test run long enough for the system to learn before you judge it. Check Meta’s guidance on its learning phase.
  • Change one major thing at a time.
  • Turn off what clearly does not work and add one new idea.
  • Refresh creatives regularly, since people tire of them.
  • Keep a weekly note: spend, results, cost per outcome, best creative, one lesson.

Measuring what matters

Meta’s dashboard shows many metrics. Focus on:

  • Cost per outcome: confirmed order, qualified lead or message that becomes a sale.
  • Delivered orders, not only orders placed, for COD businesses.
  • Return and refusal rates by campaign.
  • Repeat purchases.
  • Profit after ad cost, not revenue.

Compare Meta’s figures with your own store or sheet. Platform reports and your bank account will not always agree, and your bank account is right.

Common mistakes

  • Boosting posts with no goal.
  • No Pixel, so no way to optimise or measure.
  • Sending traffic to the home page instead of the offer.
  • Judging by likes and views.
  • Copying a competitor’s ad without understanding their offer.
  • Letting messages sit unanswered.

Questions

Should the ad copy be in Urdu, Roman Urdu or English?

Use the language your customers use when they message you. Many brands mix: English for product names, and Urdu or Roman Urdu for the message. Test two versions on a small audience and compare the results rather than guessing.

How much should I spend to start?

There is no standard figure. Pick an amount you can afford to treat as a learning budget, split it across a few creatives, and judge by cost per real outcome such as a confirmed order. Check minimum budgets inside Ads Manager.

Do I need the Meta Pixel?

If you want to measure purchases or leads, yes. Install the Pixel and, where available, the Conversions API, test the events and confirm what counts as a conversion before you spend.

Why do my ads get many clicks but no sales?

Common causes are a mismatch between ad and page, a slow mobile page, unclear price or delivery, an offer people do not trust, or a checkout that fails. Check the page on a real phone and ask yourself whether you would buy.

How do I pay for ads in Pakistan?

Payment options depend on your account and Meta's current rules for your country, so check what Ads Manager offers for your business. Use a company-controlled payment method and keep records.

Are there restrictions on what I can advertise?

Yes. Meta has advertising policies, with extra rules for categories such as health, finance and sensitive topics, and Pakistani laws apply to your products and claims. Read the policies and avoid exaggerated promises.

Can I run COD offers in ads?

Yes, but measure confirmed and delivered orders, not only orders placed. See our guide to running a COD store for the flow.
